Understanding the exam format

ISE Paper assesses English language ability through two exam modules:

Speaking and listening

Speaking & Listening

Learners complete a one-to-one spoken assessment with a Trinity examiner, focusing on interactive communication and listening skills..

Reading and writing

Reading & Writing

Learners complete integrated reading and writing tasks that assess how they understand, process and respond to written English.

Levels and resources

ISE Paper is available at six levels mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), supporting learners as they progress from beginner to advanced English. Choose from the levels below to access relevant information, guides, sample materials and classroom resources.
