Theory Diplomas

Trinity’s music theory diplomas focus on theoretical and analytical concepts and procedures, requiring extensive knowledge of music history in the Western classical tradition.

Levels offered

  • Associate (AMusTCL): equivalent in standard to the first year of an undergraduate degree
  • Licentiate (LMusTCL): equivalent in standard to the final year of an undergraduate degree

Set work extension

In response to the situation created by COVID-19, Trinity has extended the validity of the previous set works for AMusTCL and LMusTCL.

In the November 2021 session, AMusTCL candidates will be able to answer questions on either the 2017-2020 set works or the 2021-2024 set works. LMusTCL candidates will be able to answer questions on either the 2019-2020 set works or the 2021-2022 set works.
