Digital certificates and badges

Since September 2023, Trinity College London has offered digital certificates for many of its exams - and we’re now introducing digital badges for selected qualifications.

These innovations reflect our ongoing commitment to improve the speed, security and sustainability of how we recognise achievement. They enable learners to share their success more easily and help employers and institutions verify results faster and more reliably.

We’ve partnered with Accredible, a globally trusted digital credentialing platform, to provide these services.

What is a digital certificate?

A digital certificate is an official, secure electronic version of a Trinity College London qualification that evidences a candidate’s achievement in a Trinity College London exam. It looks the same and carries the same format and validity as a traditional paper certificate but offers additional benefits:

• Efficient and secure electronic delivery
• Options to instantly share via a link, PDF or QR code
• 24/7 access via the Accredible platform
• Easy download and secure digital storage
• Faster, simpler verification for employers, institutions and governments

What is a digital badge?

A digital badge is a secure, visual representation of a candidate's achievement that links back to their digital certificate and further information about the qualification awarded, including subject, level, date of issue and pass mark. Digital badges can be easily shared and embedded in CVs, email signatures, LinkedIn profiles, digital portfolios or social media platforms, to support university or job applications or to simply celebrate personal achievement and development.

Digital badges are:

• Verified and trusted, with each badge linking to secure Trinity issued metadata and proof of achievement.
• Portable and accessible as they can be easily stored, accessed and displayed across multiple platforms.
• Supporting progression by building a digital record of achievements that strengthens university and job applications.

By issuing both digital certificates and badges, Trinity helps candidates celebrate and communicate their achievements in a way that’s secure, verifiable, and future-facing.
