Allegra is an exceptional student who has excelled herself time and time again when completing her Communication Skills examinations. I’ve always been impressed with her drive and the precision and clarity with which she expresses herself. Beyond this, she is an engaging speaker who is able to capture the attention of an audience with skill and flair. She is extremely self motivated and works with persistence to ensure that her speeches are consistently of an exceptional standard. However, what really stands out about Allegra’s work is the originality and individuality with which she has approached each qualification she has achieved. She is always looking for new and unusual topics to explore within her speeches. This is why I believe her to be a strong candidate for Creativity in the Trinity Hall of Fame.
When working towards her Grade 5 examination, Allegra was tasked with creating a presentation detailing a topic in that could be found in the news. Whilst, for this task, many students will explore more somber topics, Allegra decided to undertake this challenge with a different approach. She elected to create a news report detailing unusual items which have been found on trains. Through her research, she made some fascinating discoveries about what items had been found and consequentially stored in the National Rail lost and found. These ranged from live animals to a giant statue of Mickey Mouse! This unusual topic lead to a humorous and engaging speech. This comedy was solidified by her decision to construct the news report in two halves, one segment was set in a broadcasting studio and the following segment involved her playing a secondary speaker who was reporting directly from the lost and found.
For her next examination, Allegra was required to deliver a presentation regarding a business enterprise. Once more, she approached this with her usual ingenuity and decided to create a business based around playful pranks. Her ideas for this were both varied and detailed ranging from live insects in chocolate boxes to stink bombs and glitter bombs. However, she also went above and beyond when it came to building this hypothetical business. She designed and created her own logo for the brand and made and made original designs for the products available using digital software so that she could show her audience how the products would appear. This lead to a colourful and detailed PowerPoint presentation to accompany her dynamic and persuasive speech.
Overall, amongst Allegra’s dedication and tenacity when it comes to her Communication Skills examinations, there has always been an abundance of originality and creativity. She will be pursuing her Grade 7 qualification next and I look forward to seeing yet more originality from her in this endeavour.
