What is involved?

The teacher or group leader works with the children to create a group performance, incorporating songs, poems or stories that suit the group’s needs and align with their curriculum goals. The performance can take place in the children’s familiar learning environment such as the classroom, studio or workshop space. How is the new award different from the current Young Performers Certificates and Trinity Stars awards?

  • Learning goals: The learning goals developed through the awards are now aligned with early years and primary curriculums, ensuring targeted skill development for all participants.
  • Group sizes: Group sizes have increased to 3–20 children, allowing for a more personalised learning experience while maintaining flexibility.
  • Performance settings: Performances can now take place in familiar spaces such as classrooms or studios, offering a comfortable and accessible environment for children.
  • Feedback format: Written feedback is now provided instead of verbal feedback, serving as a record of the assessment. Teachers can share this feedback with children’s caregivers to keep them informed and engaged in the learning process

  • Collaborative performance: Children will still work together to create a performance that showcases their skills and talents.
  • Three levels of awards: The three levels of awards (Bronze, Silver, Gold) remain, with teachers continuing to play a supportive role throughout the process.
  • Award guarantee: All participants will pass the award they are entered for and receive a certificate and medal, recognising their achievements.
  • Choice of performance material: Teachers and group leaders will continue to have the freedom to select their own performance material, ensuring it aligns with their teaching goals.
