Luke Carey

My name is Luke Carey and I am an Australian currently in my third year of teaching in an academy in the south of Spain. I am working both in face-to-face and online classes. My learners’ levels range from Pre-A1 to C1.

I decided to take a CertPT with a young learner focus as I’ve always found teaching young, and very young learners quite challenging. I wanted a practical methodology course that I could use to guide me in my ESL teaching career, and I also wanted a formal qualification certificate from a reputable and internationally recognised awarding organisation.

What I really enjoyed about the CertPT course was the fact that it contained practical information that is easy to apply in any ESL classroom. It also helped me build on my teaching knowledge by including practically applied theories that have shaped our understanding of how languages are learnt and how they are best taught. Another aspect I loved was that I could do it online. This meant I was able to maintain my full-time job while studying. I really appreciated the professionalism and quality teaching of my course provider, Spainwise. The whole team was great.

If you are looking to improve the quality of your teaching, then I think you should definitely take the course. I can safely say that I have been able to use the methodology to feel more confident in my classes and help support learners more. And if you don’t have so much experience or confidence in a particular area of teaching, such as with young learners in my case, it’s a real game changer.
