This exercise is a tribute to drummer Sophie Alloway’s effortless technique, perfectly executed on the 2018 debut album by the Lydian Collective, Adventure. Listen to the track Legend of Lumbar to get a feel for the style and touch required. This rudimental groove study explores how the rudiments can be used to play ‘time’. It also features a pseudo waltz feel in the B section before opening out into the paradiddle groove playing open handed between the ride and hi hat.
