Topic: Technology and Innovation | Teacher training
Presenter: Cecilia Nobre
Feedback plays a major role in shaping how new teachers grow during their training. But in many pre-service initial qualification courses, feedback often turns into a checklist exercise, focusing on ticking boxes rather than helping trainees think more deeply about their teaching.
In this webinar, we will explore how teacher trainers can create a more reflective feedback culture in fast-paced training environments. Drawing on research into reflective practice, sociocultural theory, and examples of WhatsApp feedback dialogues, we will look at simple, practical ways to make feedback more collaborative and supportive. Instead of focusing only on what went wrong or right, we will discuss how to guide trainees into asking better questions about their own practice and setting clearer goals for their next lessons.
By the end of the session, you will know how to shift your feedback sessions from a trainer-led to a trainee-driven approach, how to ask the kinds of questions that spark real reflection, and how to set up quick peer and self-reflection tasks that fit naturally into your course schedule. You will also leave with ready-to-use sentence starters and sample feedback prompts that can make post-lesson discussions more meaningful from the very next course you run.
