Young pianists win awards for excelling in Trinity exams

Trinity hosted an awards ceremony on 14 March for four young musicians who achieved Distinction in their grade 6, 7 and 8 piano exams.

The candidates, Rei Shimizu, Sei Shimizu, Akane Gonda and Yuriko Gonda, who are all originally from Japan, performed a demanding programme which included Beethoven’s Sonata in C minor and Dvořák’s Slavonic Dance No 6.

The girls’ piano teacher, Mary New, said: ‘Week by week the girls give of their best and I can only marvel at their total commitment to their musical skills’.
