Trinity’s English exams approved for UK immigration system

13 Apr 2011

The UK Border Agency (UKBA) has announced that Trinity College London’s ISE (Integrated Skills in English) examinations and Certificates in ESOL Skills for Life (all modes) have been approved for use in the Government’s points based system for UK immigration through the employment and study routes — namely Tiers 1, 2 and 4.

The awarding bodies included are Trinity College London, Cambridge ESOL, City and Guilds, Edexcel and Educational Testing Service (ETS).

The UK Border Agency also advised that the immigration route for Spouses and Partners will continue to take account of Speaking and Listening qualifications from A1 (i.e. GESE Grade 2 (Graded Examinations in Spoken English ), Entry 1 Certificates in ESOL Skills for Life Speaking and Listening).

Sarah Kemp, Trinity College London’s Chief Executive says,
“I am delighted that Trinity College London will be one of the five awarding bodies to offer UKBA approved English language certificates. This announcement demonstrates the quality of our standards of practice and further confirms the status of our English language examinations in the UK and around the world. “
