rinity College London has presented awards to four honorands in a ceremony at 45, Millbank.
The citations were read by Sarah Kemp, Chief Executive, and the presentation was made by Sir Keith Stuart, (Chairman) and The Lord Geddes (Life President).
The honorands who receiving awards were:
Mark Stringer, Honorary Fellowship (Hon FTCL)
Mark came to Trinity full-time in September 1997 as Director of Music, Dance, Drama and Speech Examinations. Throughout his employment with Trinity, working in a number of different posts, Mark worked tirelessly to promote Trinity's unique assessments. He travelled all over the world, making new friends for both Trinity and himself wherever he visited. He is remembered very fondly by candidates, teachers and representatives throughout the Trinity world.
One of Mark’s particular strengths is the ability to take the most complicated of situations – whether it be serious opera, contemporary music or 16th century polyphone – and translate it so that the learner has a more sophisticated sense of listening to serious music and taking all music seriously, without sacrificing enjoyment. This skill has benefited both students and teachers all over the world.
Frank Barrie, Honorary Membership (Hon TCL)
Frank Barrie’s hugely distinguished career as an actor, director and writer in theatre, musicals, film and television has spanned more than half a century. He is also a highly successful director and teacher and has taught voice production and technique at drama schools in London and America and has held many Master Classes throughout the world.
Through all of this, Frank has somehow found time to maintain a professional relationship with Trinity, working as an examiner on both the drama and ESOL panels for more than twenty years. If any examiner can be said to have achieved “legendary” status throughout the Trinity family, it is Frank.
Mary Jaffer, Honorary Membership (Hon TCL)
Mary has been a Trinity examiner since 1996 and is also a Cert. TESOL Moderator. She has been involved in training Trinity examiners in China and India, and in more recently in delivering the highly successful teacher training workshops across India, as part of Trinity's 'Building Teacher Communities' programme. For the past ten years Mary has been a freelance ESOL, TESOL and SpLD consultant for Trinity.
Mary first went to China for Trinity in 1996 to run a teacher training programme. The rest is history and up till now we have had a quarter of a million young people take Trinity exams in Beijing.
Barry Lynam, Honorary Membership (Hon TCL)
Barry has been working for Trinity since 1991. During his long service he has been instrumental in building the market for our English Language exams across Spain and has recently expanded his portfolio to include our music exams, which are growing in popularity in Spain.
Trinity owes a great deal to Barry and to the Spanish team that he now leads. They have never become complacent and they continue to accept new challenges and strive to be creative in the way they promote all of Trinity’s products in Spain. The result of this positive attitude and hard work can be seen in the continued growth in Spain even during the current very difficult economic conditions.
