Our new Piano syllabus is out today

6 Jun 2017

We’re delighted to announce that our new Piano 2018-2020 syllabus and supporting books are now available.

With exams starting on 1 January 2018, the new Piano syllabus:

  • Includes new performance pieces at all levels, encompassing a wide range of musical styles
  • Features new technical work exercises at all levels, covering key areas of technique
  • Allows duets to be selected up to and including Grade 3
  • Only divides repertoire into groups at Grades 6-8, allowing pieces to be freely chosen from a style list at lower grades
  • Has revised own composition, aural and improvisation requirements
  • Is supported by new graded repertoire books with the new core repertoire from the syllabus, and specially composed exercises. These can be ordered now from our online shop.

There is a year’s overlap arrangement in place, so throughout 2018 candidates may offer pieces and technical work requirements from either the 2015-2017 or 2018-2020 syllabus, but not a mixture of both.

Visit our Piano page for more details.
