Academy Award Winning Composer A R Rahman is Awarded Honorary Fellowship of Trinity College London

Academy award winning music composer A R Rahman has been awarded Honorary Fellowship of Trinity College London.

Nominated by Trinity College London under license of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Contemporary Dance, Rahman’s citation was written and read by Sarah Kemp, Chief Executive of Trinity College London and his award was presented by Guest of Honour, Barry Wordsworth, Music Director of the Royal Ballet Covent Garden. The award was given in recognition of his "distinctive contribution to and creativity in the arts."

Born in Chennai in 1966, Rahman has performed for US President Barack Obama and collaborated with international artists such as Kylie Minogue and the Pussy Cat Dolls.  In 2002, he composed his first stage production Bombay Dreams commissioned by Andrew Lloyd Webber.  Most recently he has been famed for winning a Golden Globe award, 2 Grammys and two Academy awards for his soundtrack to the 2008 movie Slumdog Millionaire.
