Open for applications: The Language Access Fund

28 February 2022

The Language Access Fund aims to provide English language learning and examination grants to help learners in the UK and Ireland prepare for, and achieve, one of Trinity’s language qualifications.

Now open for applications

Those looking to make an application for funding in the next application round of the Language Access Fund can now do so up until the closing date of 8 April 2022.

Helping learners achieve their goals

At Trinity, our educational approach is grounded in the nurturing of communicative skills, in achieving a positive impact in all that we do, and in the fundamental principle of inclusion.

As part of our overarching mission to foster the development of communication and performance skills, and to help bring these within closer reach of everyone, we have developed the Trinity Language Access Fund to support those who experience access barriers to education. These barriers may be a result of socio-economics, settlement status, race or faith inequalities, long term health or mental health issues, special needs, disability and more.

Since the start of the Language Access Fund in 2020, Trinity has granted funds to over 200 learners to help them progress with their studies, and work towards a Trinity English language exam.

The applications we receive cover a wide range of learners, all with different needs and barriers to learning. The programmes and projects have included support for refugees and asylum seekers, improving language skills for non-native volunteer workers in a food bank, and community outreach projects to help immigrants improve their career prospects.

Feedback from applicants has been extremely positive, and for some it has been life-changing:

“The students all achieved a Merit in their chosen level exam. For some, this was their first ever qualification; for others, it renewed their faith in education. They have learned to learn, which is the best possible thing to teach.”

- Val Hennessy, Director, International House Bristol

We're delighted to be supporting these learners and welcome you to get involved. Visit the Trinity Language Access Fund page to learn more.
