Jovita’s story

Name: Jovita Bhaumik
Location: United Arab Emirates
Trinity qualifications:
Grade 6 in Trinity Vocals, Keyboard Grade 1, Communication Skills

Jovita Bhaumik is an all-round entertainer, who has been slowly honing her craft through her Trinity exams and is about to put all her hard work to use in a trip to Hollywood this summer.

“Music has been a part of my life since I was very little - I think it’s helped me explore a different side of myself.”

Incredibly Jovita took her first Trinity exam when she was just six years old and since then she’s got to Grade 6 in Trinity Vocals and has also taken Keyboard Grade 1 and Communication Skills. We asked her how her experiences with Trinity have influenced her as a performer.

“I started preparing for my first Trinity exam at the age of 5 and received my certification in 2015. Prior to the exam, I was nervous but also extremely excited. Since it was my first, I didn’t know exactly what to expect, however the examiner was amazing and made me feel very comfortable and ready to perform. After the exam, I kept re-examining everything I did in the room! I was so relieved when the results finally came out. It was an amazing experience!

“I think Trinity really helps us build ourselves as musicians. Not only does it help us become more confident behind the mic, but it also helps us grow more comfortable in our own skin. It helps us build all the small technicalities, and point out the flaws that we can correct in our voices.”

Naturally, as Jovita has developed her musical skills, she has also become more and more confident as a performer, telling us that performing has “kind of crept into my blood”. Starting out with performances in her school’s annual shows, she’s quickly progressed to high profile performances on a more global stage like at the EXPO held in Dubai recently.

“I performed at the Expo Dome and at the Indian and the Philippines pavilions too. Performing at the Al Wasl Dome was an exhilarating experience. The few months before our performance were filled with rehearsals and I made memories I will never forget. The rush of performing on a huge stage is indescribable. It’s like flying in seventh heaven! Gauging the crowd’s reaction and watching where you step- that’s what runs through my mind when I perform. I am grateful for all the opportunities that have come my way!

Now she’s on her way to Hollywood during her summer break! Jovita is part of the contingency representing the United Arab Emirates at WCOPA World Championships of Performing Arts, which is often referred to as a Talent Olympics” for aspiring performers and entertainers

“I’ll be representing the UAE in Vocals - Broadway, Vocals – Rock, Vocals - Pop and original compositions, and I’ll also be acting a comical piece.”

We wish Jovita the best of luck in Hollywood – we’re sure she has a very bright future ahead of her.
