New dance qualification for young people

18 Mar 2008

A new QCA accredited Certificate in Practical Performance Skills (Dance) offers young people the chance to develop practical performance skills through dance and related subjects. This qualification includes core units in dance technique, professional practice, safety in the workplace and personal fitness. The course was originally developed in partnership with Dance United as part of their highly acclaimed and award winning ‘Academy’ programme.

While the work towards the qualification is predominantly practical, it also encourages the development of literacy, numeracy and IT skills through the creation of a relevant portfolio. The performance project is a unit central to the qualification.

The programme consists of 3 units, delivered over 260 guided learning hours within a flexible full or part -time course structure. The certificate in Practical Performance Skills is accredited at level 1 on the national qualifications framework.

Trinity College London validates providers to deliver the qualification, which is mostly assessed by the individual provider and quality assured and moderated by Trinity.
