Recording of Music exams
As from 2013, all audio from music grade, certificate and diploma exams is recorded by the examiner onto a hard disk recorder.
We have decided to adopt the audio recording of exams as a process of best practice. The regulator, Ofqual, demands high standards from awarding bodies in terms of assuring the quality of qualifications, and the recording of exams is an additional tool through which we can continue to monitor and improve the experience for our teachers and candidates.
Recording exams allows us to:
- Monitor the quality of the examinations through the sampling and moderating of recordings
- Collect audio examples of music exams to be used for examiner training, standardisation and development purposes
- Assess the quality of the content of the exams as experienced in ‘the field’
Will the equipment impact on a candidate’s exam experience?
Are diploma recordings used in lieu of a second examiner?
Can I request a copy of the recording of an exam?
How long is my recording stored for?
