Music in Accessible Formats

To obtain our pieces in Braille music, you may wish to see the list of transcribers on the RNIB website. Any of the transcribers listed on this page will be happy to discuss your requirements. Do ask about cost and likely time scales.

To obtain our pieces in Modified Stave Notation (MSN), please contact the Transcription Centre Southwest at the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). They may be contacted on 01752 690092 or at ivytcsw@rnib.org.uk. Please note that MSN is produced as a bespoke score which is tailor-made to the individual's requirement. The transcription team will be happy to discuss your requirements and the likely time scale.

Bringing together the most popular pieces from past exam syllabuses, with accompanying teaching notes by Anders Rye, The Raise the Bar Guitar series gives guitarists material with which to expand their repertoire and discover new music. Each book contains a selection of guitar pieces from a range of styles and periods, and pitched at a particular difficulty level, ideal for use alongside exam preparation or just for fun.

Raise the Bar Violin 


Raise the Bar is a series of books showcasing favourite repertoire from past Trinity exam syllabuses. Each book contains an appealing selection of pieces for violin pitched at a particular difficulty level, featuring music from a range of styles and periods. Designed for use alongside violin exam preparation or simply for pleasure, the books provide an essential resource for violinists looking to broaden their repertoire.

New Clarinet repertoire for 2017–2020

New graded albums for clarinet are now available. Never before offered by Trinity, these offer a complete solution for the repertoire part of the exam, providing clarinet candidates with nine attractive and contrasting pieces from which to form a programme.

A book at Initial level is available, supporting Trinity’s exam for clarinet candidates, as well as books for Grade 1 through to Grade 8.

CDs will be available separately from 1 December 2016.

New Flute repertoire for 2017–2020

New graded albums for flute are now available. Never before offered by Trinity, these offer a complete solution for the repertoire part of the exam, providing flute candidates with nine attractive and contrasting pieces from which to form a programme.

New Woodwind scale books for 2017

This new series contains all the scales, arpeggios and studies required for Trinity’s Recorder, Oboe and Bassoon exams, valid from 2017. Newly commissioned studies are also included for Grades 1–5 which may be used as an alternative to scales and arpeggios.

New Aural books for 2017

Two new sets of practice aural tests for Trinity’s graded music exams are now available – one volume covering Initial to Grade 5 and the other, Grades 6–8. Each book contains everything needed to prepare for the aural test component of Trinity grade exams, including an answer booklet with ‘check yourself’ sample answers and 2 CDs of practice examples.

The practice tests in these books reflect changes to the aural test that will take effect from 1 January 2017, which means that the current example aural test books will not be valid for exam preparation after that date. These new books offer an essential resource for candidates preparing for the aural test from 2017 onwards. For more information about the changes to Trinity’s aural tests, please click here.
