Music Certificate Exams

Certificate exams consist of a mini-recital of pieces, including the option to present own choice repertoire. There is no technical work and no supporting tests.

Certificates are available for many instruments (including singing), and for ensembles of any combination of instruments and/or voices, at three levels:

Certificate level Equivalent grade level
Foundation Grade 3
Intermediate Grade 5
Advanced Grade 8

You should read the syllabus requirements carefully before your exam. If you do not meet all the relevant requirements, the examiner may refer your exam result to Trinity’s London office for review and marks may be deducted.
