Directing

Trinity’s range of Diplomas is being updated and some of our higher level qualifications are due to be withdrawn. For more details on which ones, and the timeline for withdrawal please read our news release.

Directing is an option at Fellowship diploma level only and is a means through which those practitioners in drama who have become experienced directors but who are principally neither actors nor teachers may achieve the highest diploma.

The FTCL Directing is available in either the field of Speech and Drama or in Musical Theatre.

As with other Fellowship diplomas, two units must be completed successfully to qualify for the award. The first demonstrates development skills and requires a written dissertation on a topic related to the candidate's experience and intentions in directing. The specific topic must be approved by the Trinity College London before entry. The second unit comprises a presentation to the examiners on the procedures and results reported in the dissertation followed by a viva voce.

Potential candidates are advised to read the requirements and advice to candidates given in the Trinity Drama and Speech Diplomas Syllabus.
