International Playwriting Competition

The International Playwriting Competition Legacy

The Trinity College London International Playwriting Competition ran from 2011 to 2014 and aimed to encourage new writing for young performers and audiences around the world to engage with — in classrooms, drama clubs, youth theatre groups and more.

Each year the winning playwrights were awarded £1,000 and travelled to London to see their plays performed. Runners-up each received prizes of £500 and had their plays published alongside the winners in a book of plays. Several Most Promising Young Playwrights were also awarded a prize of £100 each year, and extracts of their plays were published.

In 2016 Trinity College London partnered with TreePress to enable the plays to be read, performed and taught more widely across the globe.  The collection #TrinityTreePress launched in April 2016 and TreePress now host all 27 plays from the competition.
